Origin Story
Hinterland Bookery started as an idea in 2024 and officially launched in 2025.
Joe hopes to inspire a love of reading by bringing books into the heart of the community, fostering connection, and offering a diverse and carefully selected range of literature for readers of all ages.
Joe
Joe came to a love of books later on in life and he wants to change that for other people. He’s worn several hats throughout his life, including Counselor, Spanish Teacher, Farmer, and Flooring Installer and all of those opportunities have brought him to this bookstore. He believes in the wild possibilities of learning through reading and using all of his various skills, he gave this mobile bookstore its personality in the hopes to bring more books to you!
Why a mobile bookstore?
As Jason Reynolds says, books belong everywhere because people are everywhere. We know not every community can support a full brick-and-mortar bookstore so Joe decided to take well-loved books to communities in the Michiana area and beyond. This gives him the opportunity to be adaptable and versatile.
